His excellency, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has made his decision concerning the reopening of primary and secondary schools to be 21st of September, to end months of schools closure, since lock down started due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
The Governor Fayemi ordered students in SSS II, JSS III and Primary 6 to resume on the 21st of September while students in SSS I, JSS II ,Primary 5 and 4 are to resume from September 28.
He stated that Students in JSS I and Primary 1-3 are to resume on October 19, while Pupils in Kindergarten and Nursery Schools are expected to resume on November 2, when safety measures to guard them would have been established.
The Governor noted that the decision to open more classes was taken because there has been no cases of COVID-19 among students in exit classes who are writing their certificate examinations.
This was disclosed in the evening on Sunday in a State-wide broadcast, he also directed that tertiary institutions in the State to be re-opened to students from October 2nd, subject to each institution’s Governing Council’s decision, but with very strict adherence to safety protocols, to curb the spread of COVID-19.
