Arsenal have endured a difficult start to Mikel Arteta’s first full season in charge at The Emirates following his appointment in December 2019.
The Gunners showed some signs of progress under Arteta when he took over from sacked Unai Emery in the second half of last season, guiding Arsenal to their record breaking FA Cup triumph.
However, Arsenal have struggled since the start of 2020-21 Premier League season, losing seven times in 13 league games already.
Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has come out to support his manager despite Gunners poor form in the Premier League.
Bernd Leno: “The coach is the least reason for us being in this situation. If you look at the way we were running around on the pitch at times, then the players are the only ones to blame. We’re getting red cards, making mistakes, standing out of position. These are things that we have clearly addressed a thousand times. In the end, it’s a lack of focus on the part of the players. The coach is not an issue in the dressing room, there is no criticism of him. We criticise ourselves and the players know that they are responsible.”
The Gunners are closer to the relegation zone than the top four and has been mounting pressure on Arteta.
