Barcelona have confirmed that Luis Suarez has completed a move to Atletico Madrid after terms on deal were reached by both clubs.
“FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Luis Suarez. The Madrid club will pay FC Barcelona €6 million in variables,” the Catalan club announced.
“FC Barcelona would like to publicly express their gratitude to Luis Suarez for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future.”
The arrival of Barcelona new head coach Ronald Koeman sealed Suárez’s fate at Barcelona when he informed Suarez that he wouldn’t be part of his plans for the new season.
Suarez scored 198 goals in 283 games for Barcelona making the third highest scorer for the club only topped by Cesar and Messi.
Suarez spent six seasons at Barca that saw him claim 13 trophies including four Laliga titles and a Champions League.
Suarez could make his debut for Atletico Madrid against Granada this weekend.
