A Nigerian woman, Emila Sunday,was caught by the police in Anambra State for attempting to sell her three-month-old son for N150,000 in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The 21-year-old mother, who complained of hardship, allegedly wanted to sell the baby to raise money for Christmas.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident and said the woman was caught on Tuesday by police personnel in Ojoto.
He stated that;
“On Tuesday, around 6pm, following intelligence report, police operatives attached to the Ojoto Division in Anambra State arrested one Emila Sunday, who claimed to be 21 years old from Akwa Ibom State, with a three-month-old baby boy at Ire village, Ojoto.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was attempting to sell her three-month-old son, due to what she claimed was hardship and that the baby had been rescued and was in good health, adding that investigation was ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident”.
